Best vocal theme
Posted by: NateDog - 03-23-2025, 02:33 PM - Forum: Metal Gear General - Replies (7)

What's your favourite MGS ending/vocal theme? The Best Is Yet To Come has always been my favourite, I feel like it is the perfect ending to my favourite game of all time. But I'll admit that Can't Say Goodbye To Yesterday has become a favourite of mine over the years as well, especially given the thematic nature of MGS2 and its ending.

A simple thread but always a useful one.

Really looking forward to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 next month. Thought it looked beautiful stylistically initially and I've been keeping up with it without watching anything new but it seems like previews have been great and there's a bit of hype building.

Also had an order for Sekiro in from Amazon for months and still haven't received it. I'm in London on Friday so I might just try get a copy when over because it can't be found here and it's so expensive currently. I'm also going to get a copy of the FF pixel remaster as it's around €80 here and anywhere else that'll ship here.

What are you guys looking forward to or playing currently? I'm mainly playing FFXIV although I've had no time this week.

  Upcoming movies

What upcoming movies are you all looking forward to or interested in? I kind of have a bit of an empty window in the next few months from what I can see after seeing Mickey 17 recently and loving (despite most not feeling the same way). I am interested in Sinners though and might catch it.

  What are you reading?

I've been trying to get myself reading actively again of late. I've picked up a few books recently but actually getting myself to sit down and start reading them has been another matter, so I said I'd go with a re-read to try to get things flowing.

Just finished my re-read of Dune Messiah. Leelee got me a gorgeous copy from Folio Society a few months back but it's so nice that I don't even want to open it, let alone bring it to work where I do most of my reading on breaks or when on public transport, but I grabbed my old copy and started again. It is quite a departure from Dune in that it is on such a smaller scale and is far more intimate, but I think that's one of the aspects that has me excited for the next Villeneuve movie. My favourite parts of the first book are the early sections that are more focused on political intrigue (a lot of which was missed out on in the movie) and this is almost solely focused on that. I wasn't planning on it but I think I'll just do a re-read of all the Dune books at this point because I enjoyed that so much.

And as of today, Season 2 has come to an end. Ben Stiller has blue-balled me and is making me wait another couple of years before I find out what the Hell(y R) is happening next.

Please spoiler tag all discussion for the most recent season for people who may not have finished it!

Finale Spoilers below!
No way in my shiny Lumon desk adorned Hell was that Helly R at the end. Helena is playing cheap tricks and Innie Mark just fucked his Outie over!
Swallowing/Regurgitating Cigarettes - Is This Possible?
Posted by: tr0nic - 03-21-2025, 04:44 PM - Forum: Metal Gear Solid - Replies (12)

I'm certain this has been discussed on the original site at some point, but I want to open the floor to the topic again.

Kojima has no issue stretching reality to fit his universe, but how possible is it for someone to SWALLOW an entire pack of cigarettes, and then tactically regurgitate them??

Naomi tells Snake that he's been given medication to suppress his gastrointestinal juices--Effectively preventing the pack from being digested. It's well-known that cigarettes are not good for you if eaten, search engine results claim that vomiting and a possible fever is almost guaranteed.

The biggest piece to this puzzle is the item icon ingame:
[Image: ?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsamurai-gamers.com%2Fwp...ipo=images]

Snake did not just swallow a handful of cigarettes--They are IN A PACK. So that prevents the stomach from absorbing chemicals from the cigarettes themselves, I guess (?). But how did this man swallow an entire pack of cigarettes? Judging by the one sticking out of the pack in the icon, this is a soft pack rather than a hard pack. Soft packs are essentially just a paper wrapping, rather than a cardboard box. That said, soft packs are practically the same dimensions as a hard pack. How many cigarettes were in there?? Snake is never actually shown finishing one ingame, so either he's smoking the same four or five butts and putting them out or we as the player are just given an unlimited supply.

Is this possible for some special forces badass? Is Snake just the throat goat??

I don't know why I am making this thread.
