I forgot I have a backlog for here too!

Rewatched a few things although I've forgotten some of them. The Batman was one of them, my views on it haven't changed. I think the first 3/4s are about as perfect as they could be, but I just don't like the last act at all (pretty much everything from the Riddler reveal onwards). Feels like the great pacing comes to a halt here and I just found parts of the ending a bit hard to take seriously. I completely get the point of it for Bruce's character development but it's just a shame that it doesn't feel like it was a fitting ending.

Also rewatched No Country For Old Men, but the first time watching the Criterion 4K. Not much to say here, it's one of my favourite movies of all time and this is a fantastic transfer, excellent sound too.

I think I agree with you on The Batman, it's my dream Batman movie but it didn't quite stick the landing, spoiler tag in case anyone hasn't seen it yet

I didn't really like how the bad dudes Batman was fighting was The Riddler's Instagram followers, that was a bit dumb, but I had a suspicion that WB demanded the movie end with a big action set piece so the writers had to figure out how to do one and that's what they came up with. I kind of had a Mandela effect moment the first time I saw it where the last Riddler thug who gets unmasked and says "I'm Vengeance" was the guy Bruce talked to earlier at the Police Chief's funeral, who was heavily implied to be his parent's killer. I thought that was perfect since the whole epilogue was about Batman having an epiphany that he was sending the wrong message so much that he ended up inspiring his parent's killer to take part in Riddler's plan. But then I saw it on blu ray and it turns out it wasn't the same guy at all. But my head canon is still that it's the same guy

Hah that's funny, I only noticed the similarity of that exact moment in this rewatch. [Spoiler]I can definitely see WB being like that about it and demanding a big finale. I laugh every time when the officer that finds his account remarks that he must be incredibly popular and then says "he's got like 500 followers".[/spoiler]
